ALISON COTTERELL

Alison started Street Jam in 1998 after having a very successful school in Perth for 10 years with more than 700 students. Alison also started a school on the Gold Coast in the 1980’s, which became the premier dance and performance school on the Gold Coast. Alison is a qualified C.S.T.D. (Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing) teacher with many years experience teaching jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary and musical theatre.
Alison commenced her training in Perth and then went onto a highly successful dance career, performing in many countries throughout the world. She has performed with Des O’Conner, Sacha Distel, Diana Trask, Kamahl, Loretta Young, Jane Scali, John Paul Young, Johnny Young, Ray Burgess and many more.
She then branched into choreography and production of shows such as the official choreographer for the British Pavilion at World Expo 88, choreographer and performer before the Queen in the Royal Gala Performance 1982 Brisbane as part of the Commonwealth Games. Alison was a performer in the Des O’Conner TV Specials, choreographer and performer in 26 episodes of the Lee Conway Shows on Channel 9 Brisbane, choreographer for Paul Sharratt’s Music Hall Shows 1985-1988, choreographer for the Mrs World Competition 1987 at Conrad Jupiters televised worldwide. Trade shows include Rally Australia, Myer, Master Builder’s Association, Sunland, Indy, Ray White Surfers, Dolly magazine, Cheetah swimwear, Arbonne to name a few.
Alison has choreographed theatre restaurant shows for Hazel Phillips and she has also choreographed many shows of her own touring South East Asia and also for Starcast Productions and Dance Fantasie Productions (London)Alison produced the International Multi Media conference in the Burswood Showroom Perth. She also produced “A Christmas Story” for the Perth City Council with more than 600 performers for 5 years. She was co-producer of the Arena Spectaculars at the Gold Coast Show 2002-2006 and also Entertainment coordinator of the Gold Coast Show in 2005.
Alison has produced musicals for children including “Oliver”, “Mary Poppins “, “Peter Pan” and “The Wizard of Oz”. She has also choreographed “Cabaret”, “Paint Your Wagon” and “Cabaret”.
Alison enjoys seeing many of her students go onto professional careers in film, television and stage. Two of her students were in the top 20 of “So You Think You Can Dance”, and others have performed in Moulin Rouge, Paris, “Moulin Rouge” the movie, “Happy Feet” the movie, musicals, cruise ships, theme parks, television shows and in all areas of the performing arts as performers, choreographers and teachers.
Alison teaches many of the junior classes as well as contemporary, tap and Performance.

KYLIE GOELDNER
Dancer/Choreographer/Teacher
Kylie started her training in Brisbane under the direction of Kim Bowkett and The Australian Youth Ballet. Her first professional experience was as a dancer with World EXPO 88 in Brisbane followed by 2 years with The Tivoli Theatre featuring choreographers Peta Norton, Todd McKenny and Darren Disney.
Kylie then headed to New York where she trained in Contemporary with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. She then moved to Vancouver and performed with Anna Wyman Dance Theatre and Jumpstart Modern Dance Ensemble in San Francisco.
Kylie returned to Australia to join Jupiter’s Casino as Dancer and Dance Captain of the productions ‘Innuevre’, ‘Hidden Palace’ and ‘Rhythm of the Night’.
She also performed with ‘The Rat Pack’ and Rhonda Burchmore Live in their Jupiter’s Casino seasons. Her freelance work has seen her perform with Sophie Monk, Jon English, Human Nature, Simon Gallagher and Paulini. Between 2004 and 2007 Kylie toured extensively with the world renowned ‘Great Moscow Circus’ as choreographer and show supervisor.
Since her return Kylie has been busy as the Queensland choreographer of The Australian Girls Choir. She also has her production company ‘Prance’, which provides dance entertainment to corporate events throughout Australia such as ‘The Australian Engineers Awards’, Virgin Blue Airlines, Tourism Queensland and the V8 Supercars Launch.
Her passion for dance is at its strongest in her teaching which sees her working in full time programs, high schools and dance schools Australia wide.

Currently performing in her own Hip Hop Crew called GIRLFIGHT in the styles of lyrical hip hop, pop, choreographed krump, street, jazz and cabaret.

KAREN PERRING
Dancer/Director/Teacher
Karen is a Fully Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, London (RAD) achieving her Teachers Certificate in 1989. Karen also has a Certificate in Child Care and Education and extensive experience teaching young children in Kindergartens, Pre-schools and Primary schools.
Karen’s dance education began with Kathleen Gorham OBE as a student and trainee teacher, then later with Valerie Bayley (RAD Dual Examiner), completing a 2 year full-time course at Brisbane Dance Centre. She also studied Dance at QUT Kelvin Grove and was a member of the Momentum Dance Company working with notable choreographers including Maggie Sietsma, Graham Watson & Leslie White.
Before realising her passion for teaching, Karen’s dance career included TV appearances on the Ray Martin Midday Show, Wombat and Ch 7 Telethons, performances at World Expo ’88, Darling Harbour, Sydney and various other corporate events throughout QLD and NSW. She was a member of the original dance team ‘Brisbane Broncos Cheer squad’ and also performed in many Illusion Shows as a Dancer & Magicians Assistant to Phil Cass and Scott Williams. Karen was also a dancer in the first two seasons of the Gold Coast Youth Ballet Company and has participated in various amateur musicals as a performer and choreographer.
While her initial teaching years were spent with the Sue Harvey Dancers in Brisbane, Karen went on to own her own dance schools in rural Queensland and New South Wales. Since arriving back on the Gold Coast, Karen has been actively involved in choreographing local school musicals and has been teaching the RAD syllabus at Street Jam since 2009 with 100% Merit & Distinction results.
